Iran, Tajani “Intervention in the Strait of Hormuz means entering war”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Iran was preparing for the conflict for years, not wanting to give up the atomic program, he knew that he would be exposed to an attack. Despite the destruction of the armed forces and the beheaded leadership, Iran can still resist, putting Sunni Muslim countries into trouble. The current conflict can have negative, not secondary consequences, even for the poorest states. The hope is that an agreement can be reached. Italy has always been out of the conflict. Intervention in the Strait of Hormuz means entering war. As Europeans we have decided to protect maritime routes in the Red Sea and will continue to do so, as we will ensure the protection of Cyprus. Our commitment is to foster stability in the Middle East. In this sense, intervening in the Strait of Hormuz is not convenient: it would mean to expose itself to Iranian missiles. It is necessary to work according to Italy and not anti Trump”. Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, interviewed by the Director of Time, Daniele Capezzone, at the conference “The War in Iran. From energy to networks, from mobility to logistics, scenarios and answers to transform the crisis into opportunities”, organized by Il Tempo newspaper, at Palazzo Wedekind in Rome.

Minister Tajani then stressed that “the price of gas is decided in Amsterdam, therefore, a maximum ceiling should be fixed to avoid harmful economic consequences. The government is evaluating the necessary measures to cope with expensive energy, counter speculation and prevent household and business bills from being too high. Thanks to the presence of the European People’s Party, we are trying to prevent other environmental nonsense from happening in the past with the Green Deal. It is necessary to adopt an environmental policy which is both enterprise and in person. We support the fight against climate change, but with a pragmatic approach.”.

In addition, the referendum said: “I hope there are so many people going to vote. It seems to me that the majority is for yes. The reform of justice promotes a European judicial system in the perspective of protecting the citizen, who must recognize himself in the independent authority of the toga. If the judge is a career partner or is part of the same current of the accuser, episodes of malagiust occur. At the same time, the magistrates must be freed from the pressures of political currents: the draw is not an insult to democracy.”.

During the conference the round table “The Challenges of Companies in the new energy and geopolitical context” was held: Fabio Bulgarelli, Head of Business Regulators Terna; Fabrizio Iaccarino, Head of Institutional Affairs Italy Enel; Riccardo Toto, Director General Renexia; Massimiliano Garri, President FS Energy and Chief TID FS Italiane.
