CREMONA (ITALPRESS) – Davide Nicola is no longer Cremonese coach. The company has announced in a note of “having lifted from the technical management of the first team” the 53-year-old technical Piedmontese. “The gray club wishes to thank the coach and his staff for the professionalism, commitment and dedication shown in the daily work carried out since their arrival in Cremona”, the company’s leave.
Inquired last summer to lead the greyish on the return to Serie A, Nicola had gone well with the victories on Milan and Sassuolo, with the Cremonese unbeaten in the first 5 days and able to inspire up to the eighth position with 20 points in 14 games. Then, however, the team collapsed: just 4 points in the next 15 races and an open negative streak of four consecutive defeats – the last Monday at home with Fiorentina for 1-4 – who made the grey-brown to terz’ last place, to -3 from salvation, with the last victory dated December 7 (2-0 on Lecce to Zini). The great favourite to sit on the bench instead of Nicola is Marco Giampaolo, still from the experience at Lecce in the past season and already at the helm of the Cremonese in the 2014-15 season when, subentrato league in corso, brought the team to eighth place in the group A of Lega Pro.
