The Figc launches the new technical project of youth football, Gravina: “We want to create a new workshop of talent”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Figc launches the new technical project of Italian youth football. Maurizio Viscidi will be the technical director with at his side the world champions Simone Perrotta and Gianluca Zambrotta, engaged in delineating the guidelines for the basic activity. The aim is to achieve greater coordination between the Technical Sector, the Youth and School Sector and the Club Italia, in order to promote a cross-border development of the sectors.

The model will follow that already adopted by other European federations: three functional areas (training, youth and school activities, national teams) placed under one directing booth, represented by a general manager and a technical director. Club Italia would maintain its functional autonomy, but would work closely with general manager and technical director.

“We have found a series of critical issues in our sectors and all this has been born also from the comparison with foreign federations. We realized that our federation was the only one that kept the development of the Technical Sector, the Youth Sector and the Club Italia distinct. We want to start a new course in the valorisation of the blue roots, in order to create a workshop of Italian talent”, says Gabriele Gravina, president of Figc, during the conference presentation of the project.

A new course that will see the federation working in synergy with clubs, which remain the first responsible for the growth of young people: “We don’t want to replace the clubs – continues Gravina – but we try to complete the picture of the training of the boys. We are working on a solution with an algorithm based on the biological age and not on the anagram, so as not to adversely affect young people born in the last months of the year”.

The individual technique will be at the center of the project, combined in all its methodological forms according to age and ability of the boys. More game through the technique and less desperate search of the result through tactics. “I will compare myself with the technical parts of all these sectors, I will emphasize technical training because in Italy we are exaggerating on the search for the result and the collective, but the boys must have a high individual technique. We must not abuse tactics in the youth sectors, because sometimes tactics hide technical uncertainties. The technique must return to the center of the formation of the young”, emphasizes the new technical director Maurizio Viscidi, who will be flanked by Simone Perrotta and Gianluca Zambrotta.

The two world champions of 2006 updated the model guidelines as a whole. The body of the reform, in fact, is the training process of children from 5 to 12 years, whose human and sports path must coincide with the improvement of technical and life skills. “The technique must return to the center of every speech, we will invest on the training of technicians with the implementation of free courses. We’ve been thinking about class insights and technicians will be obliged to follow them before they take the license. It is clear that it cannot only be a technical question: federation must necessarily think of all those children who will never become footballers and need to give ethical and moral foundations to all children,” explains Perrotta.

“Our project is an important project – Zambrotta adds – especially for the growth of children from 5 to 12 years. It will be a project shared by all the components and we will try to bring a breath of new methodologies regarding the basic activity, through an ad hoc training path”.

The new path of the basic activity aims to rethink the Federal Territorial Centres, in order to reorganize the Territorial Development Areas and intensify the interactions with clubs, as already happens in the rest of Europe.
