Lnd, Treccani and Unar in the field to spread a language of solidarity and inclusion

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – National Amateur League and Treccani team up to launch a social campaign and fields, under the patronage of Unar – National Antidiscrimination Racial Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, to spread a language of solidarity and inclusion.

Matches are played not only on the green rectangle, but also on the field of equality, through words, of which it is important to know the value, use and effect they can generate. On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, on 21 March, Lnd and Treccani give life to an initiative, which sees among the protagonists also the captains, who, in the next round of the championship, will exchange the gagliardetti with words that go in the direction of respect, solidarity, fair play and inclusion.

“The words have a decisive role and their use must be born from a selection and a careful choice that takes into account the individualities of each person – explains Luca De Simoni, coordinator Area Csr Lnd – for this reason, the campaign with Treccani, in addition to confirming our commitment and that of our clubs, wants to be an instrument of contrast to discrimination. The exchange of special gaglets, which show words related to respect, is a message that from the field wants to reach the whole stage, reaching generations with a powerful means as football is”.

“The Treccani has always been committed to promoting a conscious use of words, which takes into account the diversity and uniqueness of each person – says Massimo Bray, general manager of the Italian Treccani Encyclopedia Institute. It is no coincidence that the Institute has chosen respect as the word of the year 2024 and that for many years it has been carrying out the project #Leparole vale. A commitment that continues with the new dictionary of Italian Treccani 100, which is not limited to recording the use of words, but contributes to orienting readers and readers towards a more attentive, inclusive and responsible communication. For this reason we strongly support the collaboration with the National Amateurs League and hope that initiatives such as this can spread a new sensibility towards language, starting from the youngest, promoting the values of solidarity, dialogue and respect, inside and outside the field.”.

“Where there is racism there is no match, it brings values such as inclusion, respect and dignity to the fields of play, involving athletes, companies and fans. Sensitizing the use of words means building an open and welcoming sports culture, where everyone can participate, grow and feel part of a respectful community. The initiative shows that sport is a space for meeting, dialogue and solidarity, in which equity and inclusion become concrete and shared values,” says Mattia Peradotto, Director Unar.

The campaign also has a social development with the spread of messages that become opponents of racism and all forms of discrimination with a focus on responsibility within and outside the field.
