ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Associations of Organized Tourism participated today in the table convened by the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, to face the effects of the international crisis on the sector.
During the meeting, the associations reaffirmed a key point: the Organized Tourism continues to guarantee assistance, professionalism and protection of the traveller even in a phase marked by strong instability, cancellations, reproductions and increase of costs. The economic effects of international emergencies continue to prevail over Travel Agencies and Tour Operators and this leads to an unsustainable situation for businesses.
In comparison with the Minister, the associations asked for rapid measures on the economic and normative level, both contingent to address the emergency, and structurally to strengthen the sector.
The Minister, while highlighting the Community constraints on State aid and the limitedness of national resources, has ensured its commitment to the verification of viable and usable solutions quickly. This reconnaissance will inevitably also go through coordination with the European institutions and other Member States.
The Minister also stated that he wanted to activate himself for the search for available resources, both within his dicastery and through the interlocutions with the other competent ministries.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister proposed an update of the table within two weeks, i.e. after carrying out the necessary passage with Brussels. The Associations now hope that they can actually follow concrete and celery measures, able to support and strengthen enterprises and, with them, the level of protection offered to travellers.
