Monza-Roma ends 1-1, Dovbyk is answered by Dany Mota

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Roma did not go beyond a 1-1 draw against Monza in the U-Power Stadium match worth the seventh day of the Serie A championship. The Capitolini’s goal by Artem Dovbyk was answered by Dany Mota. A draw that served little purpose for Ivan Juric and could instead give oxygen to Alessandro Nesta.
The Giallorossi team, deprived of Dybala, made a fairly aggressive start, doing a lot of ball possession, but without being able to create any particular problems from Pizzignacco’s sides. At 15′ Juric’s boys score through Artem Dovbyk, after a crossbar hit by Konè, but the goal is immediately annulled due to an offside by the Ukrainian striker. Two minutes later Bianco finds a feed for Maldini, who kicks toward the goal: Svilar opposes with his feet and denies the former Milan man a goal. On 20′, the Croatian coach loses El Shaarawy to injury, so he decides to send Zalewski (reinstated in the squad 24 hours ago) on. Roma stays in the offensive zone and goes very close to the lead with Pellegrini who, all alone in front of Pizzignacco, fails to finish.
The red and white goalkeeper, deployed for the injured Turati, later makes a great intervention on another shot by Konè. Monza tried to react with Pessina, who, however, failed to guess a great backheel play by Maldini. The capital club, on the other hand, also pushes in the final part of the first half, but at the end of the four minutes of recovery time they go to rest on the 0-0 scoreline. In the resumption, the Giallorossi team picked up where it left off, creating dangerous chances with Pellegrini and Dovbyk, but again sinned by inaccuracy. At 61′ Roma’s efforts were rewarded precisely by the goal of Artem Dovbyk who, on an assist from Cristante, skipped past Izzo and deposited the ball in the back of the net after a nice slalom in the opponent’s area. Monza didn’t flinch and, thanks to a well-timed move by Alessandro Nesta, nabbed the equalizer in the 70′: Carboni’s cross repelled by Svilar, the newly-entered Dany Mota pounced on the loose ball and made it 1-1.
In the final, the Capitoline side pushed hard again to seek 2-1 and even claimed a missed penalty kick but the Lombardi defended and snatched a valuable draw. Following this result, Roma hooks Atalanta and Empoli on 10 points, while Monza climbs to 4. The Giallorossi’s next engagement is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 20, at 8:45 p.m., when Italian champions Inter will be guests at the Stadio Olimpico.
