ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The water is a source of life and development: protecting it is a common responsibility for the planet that Italy, in the middle of the Mediterranean, feels strong. MASE is actively engaged in the main international processes to ensure fair access to water, but also its innovative and sustainable management, at the time of climate change affecting the availability of the resource”. Gilberto Pichetto, Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, said this on World Water Day.
“The 2026 – adds Pichetto – is a very important year for water negotiation, with the United Nations Conference in December in Abu Dhabi, in continuity with that of 2023, in which we will have to report the results of the eighteen voluntary commitments that our country has taken, of which half attributable to the Ministry.”.
“Italy will host from the end of September to the beginning of October – adds the Minister – also the Euro-Mediterranean Forum on water, an event of great international importance, as we will be engaged in the Union Ministerial for the Mediterranean, which brings together 43 countries, comparing institutions, scientific communities, civil society and private sector”.
“We look closely and appropriate regulatory instruments – the minister explains again – at the best practices that can reduce waste and rationalize water management in a circular sense, such as waste water reuse and desalination.” “The water – concludes – is also indispensable in the energy field, we think of the hydroelectric source so important in the national mix, and in the process of technological innovation”.
