TEHERAN (IRAN) (ITALPRESS) – Iranian military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari joked the United States stating that Washington is negotiating with itself, after President Donald Trump had talked about ongoing talks with Tehran to end the war in the Middle East. “Did you come to negotiate with yourself?”, said Lieutenant Colonel Zolfaghari, spokesman of the Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Command (who coordinates the regular army and the Pasdaran), in a video message broadcast by state television. “Our first and last word has been the same since the first day and will remain such: people like us will never come to terms with people like you. Neither now nor ever.” The spokesman defined the American strategic power “a strategic failure” and invited Washington not to present defeat as an agreement. “The era of your empty promises is over,” he concluded. The statements arrived the day after Trump had claimed that Tehran wanted an agreement to close the conflict, while indiscretions circulated on a ceasefire plan in 15 points transmitted to Iran through intermediaries.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has ordered the deployment in the Middle East of about 2,000 Army Airborne Army soldiers “to provide President Trump with additional military options while evaluating a new diplomatic initiative with Iran.” They reported it to the American media officials of the Department of Defense, stressing that it is military of the “Immediate Response Force” of the division, a brigade of about 3,000 soldiers able to be deployed anywhere in the world within 18 hours. Other brigade soldiers, highlights the “New York Times”, could be sent in the coming days. Considering also the approximately 4,500 Marines already traveling to the region, the deployment of the elite forces of the American Army brings the total number of additional land troops sent in the war zone from the beginning of the conflict, on February 28, to almost 7,000 units.
