Coni, Buonfiglio “In June in the National Council a text on sports justice”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “A mixed Commission has been established with Minister Abodi, composed of representatives of the Ministry of Sport and Youth, the Council and the Cip, aimed at the study and deepening of these issues: the goal is to be able to propose in the meeting of the National Council of the Councils scheduled for the next month of June a text containing some amendments.” This was said by the president of the Coni, Luciano Buonfiglio, during his audition in the Committee Culture of the House, talking about the theme of the reform of sports justice. “We want to strengthen the chairmen of celerity of the organs of justice, tertiage and independence of the mechanisms of appointment of the same organs of justice and sports, through solutions inspired by criteria of greater transparency and tertiaryity in the perspective of an overall strengthening of the system of controls and guarantees”, said Buonfiglio recalling however that this sector “would be subject to considerable changes in the face of the judgment pending before the Court of EU Justice, few months”.

“The Olympic successes and, more generally, all the successes of Italian sport are not the result of casual events or improvisation, but of a consolidated and structured sports model, able to combine financial sustainability, model of governance, strategic choices and valorization of human capital. Our successes, therefore, are the tangible and visible result of an invisible system, which works systematically every day in perfect harmony – continued the number one of Italian sports – The numbers of the rest with their implacable truth, confirm the solidity of the Italian sports system. In the last 30 years, Italy has become one of the top ten nations in the world for won medals, occupying the sixth place and the fifth among the existing Olympic Committees. The overall medallion, after the triumphs achieved in Milan Cortina 2026, counts 829 medals between Summer and Winter Games and, just after the last Games, we have passed a giant like China, stops at 818 medals”, explained Buonfiglio.

The president of the Coni also reiterated the goal of making sport “still more attractive for young people, for businesses and for the whole community, developing a coherent and recognizable visual identity, with a modern and engaging narrative.”.
