ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In the world of handicraft, the real challenge is not only to master a technique, but to be able to transmit it. It is from this awareness that Mazda’s commitment to supporting the Homo Faber Fellowship, an initiative promoted by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship that brings together master craftsmen and young talents. The project brings together master and student couples from all over the world on a seven-month journey culminating in the realization of original works presented at Milan Design Week. For Mazda, this experience reflects its Takumi philosophy, based on patience, repetition and profound respect for materials. Two collaborations supported in Europe: in Marseille, the teacher Harumi Sugiura and Marcella Giannini work on three-dimensional textile installations, while in London Kuniko Maeda and Momoka Ienaga merge paper and embroidery in sculptural works. In both cases, Fellowship becomes a space for creative confrontation, where tradition and experimentation meet. The process, made of dialogue and research, is also at the heart of the YouTube series “Craft Journeys”, which tells from within the birth of projects. The final result is not only the exposed work, but the passage of knowledge between generations, an essential element to keep alive and constantly evolving the artisan culture.
