Tiger Woods returns to talk about himself, arrested in Jupiter Island, Florida, after causing an accident. According to the first reconstructions, the 50-year-old U.S. champion was traveling at high speed on his Land Rover when, in an attempt to get over a truck carrying a water cleaner, hit the rear of the trailer before finishing tipped with his Suv. No physical consequences for him or for the other driver but for Woods the arrest took place. The golfer, sheriff of Martin County, John Budensiek, showed signs of alteration not due to alcohol – the test was negative – but rather to other substances or drugs, with the player who refused to undergo urine analysis. A refusal for which he was charged, along with the charge of damage.
“You have the right to refuse that test – Budensiek explained – but there is a law for which you will be charged for refusal, even if we will never have definitive results on which substance has altered it at the time of the accident. He was collaborative but also prudent in what he said and in what he did not say.” Woods remained in prison for eight hours, as provided by the Florida laws, before being released on bail. It is not the first time that the 50-year-old ex-number one of the green is suspected of driving in a state of alteration: in May 2017 he was always arrested in Jupiter after the police found him sleeping at the wheel of his car while on the motorcycle, with two tires on the ground and damage to the vehicle. On that occasion he pleaded guilty – the toxicological examination revealed the presence in the body of various painkillers – and was sentenced to a year of probation. Four years later, in February 2021, he was involved in a bad road accident near Los Angeles, reporting multiple fractures to the right leg and being hospitalized for three weeks. Woods had still returned to play, except for a new stop due, in March a year ago, to the break of the Achilles tendon while in October he underwent further intervention in the back.
Assuming from the PGA Tour from July 2024, when he did not exceed the cut at the Open Championship, he was considering a possible return to Augusta but given the situation will be complicated. “I’m very sorry – said of him from Miami US President Donald Trump – He has difficulties.
