Easter Exodus, on roads and highways 60 million vehicles until Tuesday 7 April

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – On the Anas network for Easter holidays there are approximately 60 million vehicles from today to Tuesday 7 April. Compared to the normal traffic trend today is estimated an increase of 8%; tomorrow, Thursday 2 April, an increase of 10% and Friday 3 April of 3% is expected.

“In these holidays characterized by short- and medium-distance travels – said Anas CEO Claudio Andrea Gemme – we ask those who are traveling to respect speed limits, distances between vehicles and avoid any type of distraction driving first with the use of mobile phones. Let us always remember that security depends on our behaviors. Together with the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport and the Forces of the Order we are at the forefront of protecting road safety: maximum prevention, vigilance in case of danger and early relief.”.

The preferred destinations of tourists confirm the regions of the Centre and the South with particular attention to the sea destinations. Starting from Saturday 4 April, the traffics will suffer a reduction up to -5% compared to those of a normal Saturday of early spring. For Easter Sunday a drop of -15% is expected, with peaks up to -23% on long-distance routes in the North.

A slight reduction in transits is also expected in the northern regions for the day of Pasquetta with variations that reach about -11% regarding a Monday week. On the other hand, on Monday of the Angel, the short journeys for outbound trips to the seaside resorts, with variations ranging from about +10% of the Centre to +17% of Sardinia, up to +25% of the South. An increase in transits is scheduled for 7 April: an increase of 11% is estimated compared to a normal Tuesday. For the return to the big cities traffic will focus on the major routes between Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 April. Here are some of the itineraries involved: the A2 motorway of the Mediterranean, the Grande Raccordo Anulare in Lazio, the highway 1 “Aurelia”, the highway 16 “Adriatic”, the highway 106 “Jonica” and the highway 18 “Tirrenia Inferiore”

To facilitate the movement, the movement of heavy goods vehicles will be suspended on Friday 3 April from 14 to 22, Saturday 4 April from 9 to 16, Sunday 5 and Monday 6 April from 9 to 22. In view of the counterexodus, on Tuesday 7, the block will be in effect from 9 to 14. During the festivities the surveillance will be increased and guaranteed the uninterrupted presence of the staff with 2500 resources in turn, technical staff and exercise, and more than 200 units in the Territorial Operating Rooms and the National Security Room to ensure the monitoring of traffic in real time h24.
