Istat, in 2025 the population at risk of poverty falls to 22.6%

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In 2025 the population at risk of poverty or social exclusion – those who are in at least one of the following conditions: at the risk of poverty, in severe material and social deprivation or low labour intensity – descends to 22.6% (in 2024 it was 23.1%). Istat detects it.

Compared to the previous year, the share of individuals at risk of poverty remains stable (18.6% compared to 18.9%), it decreases that of individuals living in low-intensive families (8.2% and 9.2%) and slightly increases the share of those who are in serious material and social deprivation (5.2% and 4.6%).

In 2024, the average annual income of households (39.501 euro) grows, compared to 2023, both in nominal terms (+5.3%) and in real terms (+4.1%), growth that is associated with the reduction of inequality in distribution: the amount of income perceived by 20% of households with higher income is 5.1 times that perceived by 20% of households with lowest income (5.5 of 2023).
