Nissan continues to outgrow the market in 2024

ROME (ITALPRESS) – In the first nine months of 2024, Nissan continued its growth in volume and market share. More than 30,500 units were registered (PC+LCV), representing +5% year-on-year, about double the market average of +2.6% for the same period. Nissan’s market share in Italy also grows to 2.3% (+0.1 points vs. January/September 2023). Nissan Italy’s performance, which has been positive for more than three years and remains above the market’s, is gaining further momentum from the new Juke, Qashqai and X-Trail unveiled in recent months and already at the dealer network. The range of crossovers and LCVs continues to support Nissan’s growth. From January to date, more than 8,900 units of Nissan Juke have been sold, up 15 percent from 2023, supported by the new version unveiled in February and featuring new infotainment, new on-board instrumentation and new driver assistance technologies, as well as a new interior design, higher quality materials and finishes, offered at the same price as the previous version.Nissan Qashqai with about 15,000 units sold in nine months equals the performance of 2023, consolidating its position on the podium of the best-selling C-SUV models in Italy since the beginning of the year and in the Top 10 best-selling C-SUV in September. Qashqai’s success is closely linked to e-POWER, the electrified powertrain that has no equal in the automotive market. With an electric motor driving the wheels and a heat engine producing power, e-Power is appreciated by customers for the driving pleasure typical of electric cars and low fuel consumption, being able to travel more than 1,000 km on a full tank of gasoline. And in Qashqai sales to private customers, the weight of e-Power versions has reached about 60 percent. For Nissan X-Trail, about 3,000 units have been sold, up 40 percent from last year, and the car is confirmed as the ninth best-selling D-SUV model in the January-September period. Since September, Nissan X-Trail has been available with two engine options, with the new 1.5-liter Mild Hybrid gasoline engine, 163 hp of power and 300 Nm of torque joining the e-POWER powertrain. Nissan thus expands the offerings of its crossover designed for family and adventure, and does so with an even more affordable solution. In fact, new versions of the X-Trail Mild Hybrid with 2WD traction and 5- or 7-seat options are offered with prices starting at 38,300 euros. Sales of the Ariya electric crossover coupe, an icon of Nissan design and technology, are also growing, with volumes more than doubling (+134 percent) over the same period last year. And thanks to Nissan’s eco-incentives, with discounts of up to 11,000 euros, Ariya is even more affordable with prices starting at 31,500 euros.Excellent results for Nissan’s entire range of light commercial vehicles. With 1,082 units sold (+17% vs 2023) Townstar is confirmed in the Top 10 best-selling MPVs since the beginning of the year. There are 746 Primastar units (+42% vs 2023) and 898 Interstar units (+93% vs 2023) sold in the nine months. Also popular are the electric versions of Townstar and Interstar, the ideal vehicles for city activities and last-mile deliveries. Regarding the two major trends in the Italian market, namely sales of crossover and electrified models, it is noted that in the first nine months of the year the weight of crossovers on total Nissan sales is 95%, while that of electrified models is 85%. These percentages are significantly higher than the market averages of 51 percent and 48 percent, respectively.
