Race to the presidency Figc, Malagò and Abete meet the leadership of Assocalciatori and Assoallenatori

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – It lasted about two hours each the meetings that saw protagonists first Giovanni Malagò and then Giancarlo Abete with the leaders of the Association of footballers and that coaches.

The former number one of the cones was indicated by the League of Serie A as candidate for the presidency of Figc. “It’s been two hours of meeting with the Association of Footballers and that coaches, we’ve talked about many themes, they have made me present their requests and their problems, which join those of the other components – the words of Malagò at the exit from the meeting in late morning –. I have documented: I think they should do, next week, a directive and reflections. The spirit of the meeting was favourable to all points of view, it was a must visit.”.

“The meeting developed in a constructive dialogue climate with a thorough comparison of the main themes currently at the heart of the federal debate. During the meeting, elements of convergence emerged on different strategic issues, confirming the shared will to contribute to the development and strengthening of the Italian football system”. With these words the Assocalciators summarizes today’s meeting in Rome with Giovanni Malagò and the Assoallenatori, in view of the elections for the president of the Federcalcio, scheduled on June 22.

At 15.30 was the turn of the other potential candidate, the president of the National Amateur League Giancarlo Abete. “A positive and very direct meeting”, as Abete described, because “the problems we have known for many years, so a reflection has been made on the general scenarios and priorities in relation to programs that can be presented by May 13th. We will feel in the coming days, there is not yet a set meeting.” Abete hopes that “there are different applications and that we start from the content, because the problem is not people. I’m glad you start talking about football problems. It is important that within the components there is a reflection that is not only connected to the name of a person who can give or news or to another who gives stability. I go on quietly,” said Abete.

“We shared the most important aspects of what should be done both with regard to the club Italia, and with regard to the involvement of a former footballer with an important role, which I believe is a shared necessity, and on all the situation regarding our nurses. It is early for a name, you have to understand what role to assign and then identify suitable people. There is a need to have a point of reference, something that from Vialli to Buffon had an implementation and I think it takes a step further because a strong role of responsibility would help the future federal president.” Thus the president of the Aic, Umberto Calcagno, after having met the possible candidate for Figc, Giancarlo Abete, in the headquarters of the Assocalciatori together with the president of the Aiac Ulivieri. On the involvement of a former footballer in Federcalcio “there is availability by both candidates”, added Calcagno, who in the morning had also met Giovanni Malagò.

“We need to try to have a unique federal direction that can put us all together and understand how to deal with problems – he added. We do not like the shopping list as interlocution mode, problems are known. For me the aspect we hold is that the sports technical part is linked to the economic part. Today revitalize the internal market, giving Serie B and Lega Pro a new centrality. We’ve seen guys who are almost randomly in the field and then manage to make a great figure. If we were able to do this better, the internal market would benefit,” he concluded.
