Pogacar dominates Lombardy, fourth win in a row

COMO (ITALPRESS) – Tadej Pogacar has done it again. The Giro di Lombardia was tinged with the iris of the newly crowned world champion and leader of UAE Team Emirates, who took his fourth consecutive success at the finish line in Como and equaled Fausto Coppi, who won this race continuously from 1946 to 1949 (five total successes). The Slovenian made his move at the -48.5 km mark, in the toughest section of the Colma di Sormano, making a breakthrough. Thus ended his extraordinary season: Giro, Tour, Worlds and Lombardia. Second and very distant from the winner Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step), bi-Olympic champion who finished at 3’16”. Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek), third at 4’31”, completes the podium. “The start was very difficult, then I picked up the pace and everything seemed easy – Pogacar’s words at the finish – The team was outstanding, I am very happy with the work we did. I am very proud of this success. Arriving as a winner here in Como is always nice, I wanted to lift my bike because we won together. The next goal?
