PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – The Teatro Massimo Foundation of Palermo reopens the inscriptions to apply for the second edition of the Accademia Lirica, a completely free high-training course, dedicated to young opera singers aged between 18 and 35, who want to perfect their course of studies. The deadline for submitting the application is Monday, September 7, by 12.
Following the extraordinary participation of the first edition, the Foundation chose this year to further enhance the training offer, extending the duration of the course, which will develop from September 2026 to March 2027, and increasing the number of places, reserved for up to 20 young talents.
The Academy is a laboratory of excellence aimed at supporting the new generations, where vocal technique merges with stage and musical preparation. The goal is twofold: to train young artists and, at the same time, to enhance the lyric chant, form of art and cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The main teacher of the Academy is Maestro Pietro Ballo, an internationally renowned tenor who has worked with the most prestigious directors, from Zeffirelli to Ronconi and Pizzi. It is at the Centro di Avviamento Lirico del Teatro Massimo, at the time active, that Maestro Ballo has moved the first steps of his brilliant international career.
The initiative, made possible thanks to the support of the Assessorato del Turismo, Sport e dello Spettacolo della Regione Siciliana, aims to concretely support the entry of young people into the world of work, providing the tools necessary to face a demanding and complex career. Applications for admission must be submitted by filling out the appropriate online form, available in the section “Auditions and selections” of the website of the Teatro Massimo Foundation. The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, September 7, by 12.
The selection process provides for a first phase of evaluation of curriculum vitae and video materials by the examiner commission. Applicants considered eligible will be subsequently convened for the test in the presence, which will be held Saturday 26 September, at the Sala Coro del Teatro Massimo in Palermo, in Piazza Giuseppe Verdi 71.
