And this stability is also seen in environmental policies, where we have gone from slogans to facts.” So the undersecretary to the Environment and Energy Security, Claudio Barbaro. “We changed the way we looked at the environment. For us protection does not mean immobilism, nor close the territories under a glass bell. It means preserving the Italian natural heritage by making it alive, accessible, productive of culture, research, tourism, environmental education and sport. Protected areas must be places of identity, not museums of the ban”, he adds.
On the energy front “since months the government has been working for the reduction of expensive energy. Dl Bollette’s 5 billion is an example. The path we followed as Mase in Parliament.” Particular emphasis also on sustainable sport: “For the first time sports themes entered the delegates of the Ministry of the Environment. For us sport is growth, health, community, education to respect the places.” Finally, international cooperation: “Even outside the national borders Italy has chosen a clear road: parity collaboration, not predatory, with the Mattei Plan”. “This is the sense of our work, defending the environment without stopping development, protecting nature without forgetting man, enhancing the territories without abandoning them to bureaucracy,” he concludes.
