ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Safety and Environment, a company in the post-accident recovery sector, presented the results of the Sustainability Report 2025, which “environment the continuous growth and commitment to improving the efficiency of interventions on the territory, oriented to reduce the environmental footprint and to guarantee the highest safety standards for the communities affected by the activities”, reads in a note.
During 2025, Security and Environment managed 50,770 accidents across the national territory, managing to remove from roads 1.055,931 kg of waste, of which 77% constituted by hazardous waste.
The company manages and controls the entire supply chain for waste recovery or disposal resulting from post-accident recovery, using the collaboration of specialized partners. From these processes it emerges that 67.68% (714.678.5 kg) of the total waste disposed of in 2025 is made up of non dusting solid waste, while the remaining 32.32% (341.252.5 l) belongs to the category of liquid waste.
In 2025, about 150,000 litres of hydrocarbons were removed (increasing compared to the previous year). “This is a crucial activity and that, if it is not done correctly, it has significant consequences on the road and the surrounding environment – the note continues –. Regardless of the techniques used for land reclamation, it is crucial to act quickly to prevent the migration of pollutants in the areas surrounding the point of entry, so as to limit the risk of pollution of underground sources, in particular those of water supply”.
With its activities, Safety and Environment “it was able to free in 2025, 310.000 m2 of road from liquid spills (oils, fuels, refrigerants, lubricants and liquids produced by the batteries in a state of aavaria) and 325.000 m2 from solid debris (aluminum, sheet, plastic portions, glass pieces, tyres)”.
Operatingly, Security and Environment is directed to the Operational Logistics Centre (CLO) closest to the place of the left, as soon as the request for intervention is received and is committed to ensuring that the operators arrive on site within maximum 30 minutes. Cleaning operations lasted differently, depending on variables such as the number and type of vehicles involved, the severity of the accident itself, the characteristics of the materials and contaminated surfaces, as well as the time necessary when the operators arrived. On average, remediation operations take 60 minutes. Thanks to this organization, the service has brought benefits to 17.554.389 Italian citizens.
