ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Italy and Oman are friendly nations, united for millennia of cultural exchanges and a common attitude to dialogue and building peace. Culture is one of the most fertile soils in the broad partnership between the two governments. The agreement signed today opens a new page in our cooperation and lays the ground for a series of initiatives that will enhance their cultural heritage.” The Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, said this at the end of the cordial meeting he had today at the Roman College with the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi.
On the occasion, the two Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of cultural heritage and museums, which follows the auspices, expressed by His Majesty the Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni on the occasion of their meeting in Mascate on 14 January 2026, of a further development of bilateral cultural exchanges.
The understanding lays the foundations for new collaborations in the management, protection, restoration and valorisation of cultural heritage, also through exchanges of experts and training courses in the fields of archaeology, museumology and museumography. The two ministers also expressed appreciation for the fruitful collaboration already in place, testified, last but not least, by the success of the exhibition “Oman and Italy: Two millenniums of Dialogue between Civilization”, created by the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan in collaboration with the National Museum of Mascate.
