Spain, the government approves housing decrees

MADRID (SPAGNA) (ITALPRESS) – The Spanish Government today approved two decrees for the housing sector containing 21 measures. The measures will now have to pass to the evaluation of the Permanent Diputation, the body that makes the veins of the Chambers, once these have been dissolved, for the disbrigo of current affairs. According to El Pais, decrees are composed almost entirely of the same elements as those rejected by Congress last Friday.

The first decree focuses on blocking the evictions of vulnerable people without alternative accommodation, along with a new package of guarantees from 680 million euros. This package includes incentives for the industrialized construction of buildings and aids to promote development by social housing authorities. It also includes a €10 billion loan line to facilitate the purchase of the first home, which will be managed by the Ico (Official Credit Institute).

The second decree proposes the automatic renewal of lease contracts at their expiry for the same duration for which they were stipulated.

“These two decrees retain the essence of the two decayed royal decrees,” said Sanchez according to El Pais. “We did this because the circumstances that led to their emanation have not changed in the last days,” he continued. Sanchez also announced the restoration of the social security network that prevents the eviction of vulnerable persons without alternative accommodation, as well as tax relief for both smallholders and tenants on income tax derived from rents.
