ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Mercedes-Benz technology flagship and the highest expression of the brand’s electric luxury, the new EQS continues to define new standards in the field of innovation. With the introduction of steer-by-wire technology, Mercedes-Benz becomes the first German automotive manufacturer to offer this solution on a series model. The new steering system brings the driving experience to a higher level and redefines the interaction between driver and car. Eliminating the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels, the controls are transmitted quickly and directly through an electrical connection, then “by wire”. In Italy, the price of the option starts from 3.050 euro VAT included. The package includes a newly designed steering wheel, more flat and equipped with an innovative airbag structure. The more compact steering wheel significantly increases the space on board, improves the visibility of the driver’s display and makes it easier to access and exit the car. Available in black or, depending on the set, in beige, contributes to making the interiors of the EQS even brighter and airy. From the first moment it transmits the typical “Welcome home” feeling of the brand, which accompanies the driver even during the march: the steering remains precise and intuitive, in line with the characteristic Mercedes-Benz feeling. Steer-by-wire also significantly reduces the required rotation of the steering wheel, especially at low speeds, facilitating maneuvers and parking. With only 170 degrees of rotation from one end to another, the system offers a particularly direct and intuitive response. For 140 years Mercedes-Benz has shaped the future of mobility, beginning with the invention of the car. With steer-by-wire on the EQS Berlina, this technological leadership comes back to be concretely perceptible.
