Bagnaia “In Australia we can win but we will not take risks”

PHILLIP ISLAND (AUSTRALIA) (ITALPRESS) – “I have never won on this circuit, but I remember having a good chance in Moto3. In Moto2, however, in the two years, it was a disaster. Last year I came very close. I will try to win of course without taking excessive risks: we have the potential to finish first.” These were the words of Francesco Bagnaia, during the drivers’ press conference of the Australian Grand Prix, at the Phillip Island circuit. “The most important thing will be to understand what tires to fit based on the practice sessions and weather conditions. I remember that already last year we were on the limit. It is a difficult circuit to interpret, although the asphalt will certainly be better than last year. Tomorrow is expected to be rainy, while Saturday and Sunday should be very windy.” Regarding the world fight, the Chivasso rider said, “It is not mandatory to be first in the standings already at the end of this weekend. However, any result will not be decisive, and I am sure that Martin and I will play for the title until Valencia. This year he has been more consistent than me and has been almost always ahead in the standings. I think Jorge has grown a lot in terms of awareness and knows that he can always win.” Bagnaia then closed to the possibility of receiving some more help from Ducati than Martin, being in the factory team: “In my opinion, if they wanted to help me, they would have done it in Misano. Dall’Igna has always been very clear since my arrival at Ducati. “All teams have an equal chance and Martin and I have the same package.” Finally, on other rivals on the track: “The battles between Marquez and Bastianini are always exciting and both are strong enough to fight with us. Acosta in Japan was competitive all weekend and I did not expect that.”- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
