Delivered to Santa Margherita Ligure the certificates of summer courses of the Cisi University of Genoa

GENOVA (ITALPRESS) – This morning at Villa Durazzo, the 2026 edition of the Italian language summer courses organized by the International Centre of Italian Studies (Cysi) of the University of Genoa. At the closing ceremony, culminated with the delivery of the certificates, participated in the Liguria Region the Councillor to the Emigration Paolo Ripamonti, together with the rector of the University of Genoa Federico Delfino, to the director of the Department of Italianistics, Romanistica, Antichistica, Arti e Spettacolo Duccio Tongiorgi, to the president of Cisi Manuela Manfredini and to the representative of the Municipality of Santa Margherita Ligure Francesco Palli. The Cisi has been organizing courses for foreign students in Santa Margherita Ligure since 1958 to promote knowledge of Italian language and culture, with particular attention to Ligurian history and traditions. Liguria Region has long supported the participation of foreign students of Ligurian origin, thus favoring the relationship of the new generations with the land of origin of their families.

“This year we wanted to make procedures simpler and faster and, with the new convention with the University, we also expanded the training offer – says Councillor Paolo Ripamonti – The results tell us that the path taken is the right one: the students who chose to attend the courses are almost tripled, passing from 10 last year to 34 of this edition. Among them there are also five young people of Liguria origin from Switzerland, Chile and Uruguay. For these young people studying Italian also means making a journey into their roots, knowing the land of their avi and reconnecting a bond that often, despite the distances and the passing of generations, has never really broken. We want to continue creating opportunities so that more and more young people can rediscover their origins and Liguria”.

The new Convention has made it possible to simplify the procedures for the provision of student contributions and to extend the teaching offer. At the traditional four-week summer course, started on 25 August and ended today, a course took place for the first time from 29 June to 17 July, with possibility of frequency for two or three weeks. The ceremony was accompanied by the meeting “From the Gulf of Tigullio to the world. Stories of migration between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in the testimonies of the Ligurian Archive of Popular Scripture”, with the historians of the University of Genoa Antonio Gibelli and Carlo Stiaccini, moderated by Erika Dellacasa.
