ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received at Palazzo Chigi the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda. The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the solidity of bilateral relations and shared the goal of further strengthening cooperation, with particular attention to the strategic sectors of defence and energy.
The conversation allowed a comparison of the main European priorities, even in view of the forthcoming Lithuanian presidency of the Council of the European Union, starting from the strengthening of competitiveness and the European industrial base and the need to structurally reduce energy costs for families and enterprises.
The importance of a multiannual financial framework adapted to the Union’s ambitions has been highlighted, ensuring sufficient resources for both new strategic priorities and traditional policies, starting from cohesion and agriculture.
The two leaders also discussed the management of migration flows and the need to strengthen the external dimension of European action. The interview focused on the main international scenarios, starting from the common commitment to a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.
