The 2024-2025 Nba season gets off to a great start with defending champions Boston who, in a TD Garden dressed to the nines, first receive the trophy and rings for the title they won last season, then overwhelm the Knicks with a clean 132-109. Not just Celtics, there are also Lakers on the court. And it’s not a trivial game since it goes straight into Nba history thanks to Lebron (age 39) and Bronny James (age 20): father and son on the court together and on the same team, it had never happened. Honoring the champions, we start with Boston beating New York with, speaking of firsts, 29 triples placed (equaled the Bucks’ record of 4 years ago). Extraordinary Jayson Tatum who starts the season by putting up 37 points and 10 assists (4 rebounds), the best of his, but still in all there are 6 who go in double figures: they make 24 White, 23 Brown, 18 Holiday, 11 Horford and, from the bench, 10 Hauser. New York is forced to play the part of the guest at the party of champions and never gives the impression that it can play it, despite 22 points apiece from Brunson and McBride (the latter from the bench). From Boston to Los Angeles, where the Lakers beat Minnesota 110-103. So many stars shone, in terms of showmanship and contribution to their team, on the shields was Anthony Davis, who donated and gave himself a 36-point, 16-rebound double-double. Also in the Lakers’ starting quintet are Hachimura’s 18 points and Reaves’ 12. Then there’s the James family: dad Lebron, class of 1984, puts up 16 points in 35 minutes, son Bronny plays the final game: a rebound for him and a thousand emotions for both of them, but also for the audience that greeted with an ovation the entrance on the court of ‘little James. A moment that goes down in Nba history: for the first time father and son on the court together in the same team. Returning to the match, a balanced challenge with the Timberwolves paying for amnesias in the second half (33-19) and losing 110-103, despite Anthony Edwards’ 27 points, Julius Randle’s 16 (with 9 rebounds), Rudy Gobert’s double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds and the excellent contribution coming from the bench with Alexander-Walker’s 14, Reid’s 12 and DiVincenzo’s 10.- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS)
