Thuram on 93′, Inter wins at home to Young Boys

BERNE (SWITZERLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Inter Milan, re-staffed and lackluster, nabbed a heavy victory against Young Boys in the final. On the Wankdorf synthetic turf, the hero of the evening was substitute Thuram, whose 93′ goal folded the Swiss outfit. For long stretches of the match, the Nerazzurri suffered from the organization and physicality of Young Boys, still stuck at zero points in the standings. In the opening half, Arnautovic had also missed a penalty kick. The match was uphill for Inter from the very beginning, mainly due to the great aggressiveness of the hosts. For a good half-hour, Inzaghi’s boys struggled to cover the field, often allowing themselves to be surprised by the hosts’ offensive gallops. Between 22′ and 25′ Young Boys came close to taking the lead on two occasions: on the header attempts of Virginius and Lakomy, first Pavard was providential in closing, then Sommer. Despite the difficulties, however, the Nerazzurri re-entered the locker room eating their hands for the chance Bisseck had on 31′. After exchanging with Taremi, the German defender got in front of Von Ballmoos: the latter was good at parrying in a low exit. In the opening of the second half, Inter had a great chance to direct the game, when Oliver awarded a penalty for contact between Dumfries and Hadjam. From the penalty spot, however, Arnautovic kicked poorly at an angle and was hypnotized by Von Ballmoos. Also of note was the muscle injury of Carlos Augusto, who was replaced in 54′ by Dimarco. The Nerazzurri even in the second half continued to suffer from the bravado of a Young Boys side that was never passive: in 60′ Monteiro with a right-footed shot from the edge hit the post, making Sommer tremble. A minute later Lautaro and Zielinski came in to shake up an Inter team that was too flat. The best chances continued to come from the Swiss team, however, thanks to the excellent graft from the bench of Males, who came close to scoring at 84′ with a shot just wide. Rescuing Inter, however, from a very disappointing result came the newly-entered Thuram, scoring in the third minute of stoppage time. Under goal, the Frenchman was good at deflecting Dimarco’s low cross. With this victory, Inter climbs in the standings to seven points: the Nerazzurri will return to the pitch against Arsenal at the San Siro on Nov. 6.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
