PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – Seus 118’s medical module related to relief in maxi-emergencies has been upgraded. It can be used in calamitous events – for example, earthquakes, floods, landslides and floods – and in incidents with a high number of injured people, and can first of all count on a new advanced medical post with two large pneumatic tents (10 meters long, 6 meters wide and 3 meters high) with electrical system, heat pump, beds, electromedical equipment (defibrillators, lung ventilators, aspirators, ultrasound) and medical trolleys. “An endowment that places our 118 and therefore the Sicilian health system at the forefront nationwide in the management of maxi-emergencies,” Seus President Riccardo Castro stressed during the presentation conference in the spaces of Villa Malfitano in Palermo, adding, “As required by the relevant regulations, we are also ready to provide rescue for calamitous events in the rest of Italy. Moreover, we can count on the remarkable professionalism of our rescuers, who operate as always in perfect synergy with the doctors and nurses of the 4 Operations Centers of the Sicilian 118. “The renewed medical module can also count on 1 MSA 4×4 ambulance, 1 MSB ambulance, 1 9-seater van for special use, 1 4×4 car, 1 “Rescue/Logistics Coordination” car with tow hook and 1 “AIS” jet ski with trolley. There is also the “Regional Command Unit” with 2 stations equipped with pc and internet connection, 1 radio communication station (3 fixed radios and portable radios) and 1 vest kit for maxi-emergencies.Also operating in the health module is a van with aquatic and flooding garrisons: 1 “Takacat” catamaran for 7 people, floating stretcher, PPE (hydrocostumes, wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmets), technical garrisons (Reach & Rescue Grappler anchor hook, fiberglass wading pole, telescopic pole, Rescue Tube WRS Pro, semi-static floating rope), dungaree pants and boots.Instead, a “UGE Van” first and foremost contains PPE for cases of danger of contagion from biological, chemical, and radiological substances: masks with hepa filters, coveralls, gloves, and socks.
