Lucca and Davis in goal, Udinese beats Cagliari 2-0

UDINE (ITALPRESS) – Lucca and Davis launched Udinese, which scored a goal in each half and knocked out Cagliari 2-0 in the first match of the ninth day of the championship. Weighing on the economy of the match was Makoumbou’s expulsion with the Rossoblu forced to play for more than an hour with a man down. Instead, the Bianconeri dream, who in front of their home crowd momentarily hook Juventus in third place, -3 behind Napoli in the lead. Three changes for Runjaic compared to San Siro: Payero and Kamara in the midfield, Davis up front with Lucca replacing Iker Bravo. Nicola launches Gaetano behind Piccoli and leaves Viola and Luvumbo on the bench. Udinese’s territorial supremacy and forcing from the opening whistle, but few dangerous conclusions to start. The first noteworthy one comes midway through the half after good work by Lucca, who protects the ball and entrusts it to Lovric: the Slovenian’s attempt from the edge of the area, Scuffet blocks on the ground without any trouble. Lovric again tries from great distance without framing the mirror, before the turning point of the match that arrives at the half-hour mark: Makoumbou, already cautioned for a foul on Payero, conspicuously holds back at midfield precisely the Argentine player, thus stopping an HCL restart. For the match director there are no doubts and the second yellow arrives, the glaring ingenuity leaves Cagliari in 10 men. Strengthened by numerical superiority, Udinese broke through and it was of little use for Nicola’s move, who beefed up the midfield by inserting Deiola for Gaetano. Scuffet saves by putting in a corner on a shot by Ehizibue at the first post, but can do nothing, shortly afterwards, when Lucca soars solo on a cross from Kamara’s three-quarter and unlocks the result. With generosity, the Sardinian formation tries to react in the second half, but Runjaic’s team defends neatly and never goes into trouble. Definitely scarier, on the other hand, is Udinese when it restarts. On a Karlstrom throw, Ehizibue hooks a dangerous ball in the Cagliari box but fails to serve the assist to a teammate. On the development of the action Mina and Azzi obstruct each other and the ball ends up to Lovric who sends it out by a whisker. Nicola tries to shake things up with the forward graft of Lapadula and Luvumbo, while Zarraga and Bravo come in on the other. Closing the score, however, is Davis, who accelerates when the pace drops, cleanly skips past Luperto and fires a missile that slots under the crossbar.
