ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Nearly a thousand days have passed since the Russian aggression at the gates of Europe, a war that Ukraine neither wanted nor provoked, but faced with incredible valor.” This was said by Roberta Metsola, president of the European Parliament, speaking in the chamber of Montecitorio at the commemorative ceremony for the 70th anniversary of the death of Alcide De Gasperi, in the presence among others of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. “I am proud of the way the European Union has united and supported our Ukrainian allies without hesitation, how we have overcome our fears about the scarcity of fuel to heat our homes, how to power our industries, and how to protect our families,” he added. “We are firmly on Ukraine’s side not only out of Christian charity, but because we understand that this is not just about Ukraine. It’s about Europe. About our way of life. About the maintenance of the international rules-based order,” Metsola concluded.
