Matilde Lorenzi, a 19-year-old Italian skier, tragically passed away after a serious accident during training in Val Senales, South Tyrol, on Monday. Born in Turin on November 15, 2004, Lorenzi was a member of the Army Sports Group and began her professional career in 2020. She made her European Cup debut in February 2021, finishing 57th in the downhill event. Earlier this year, at the Junior World Championships in Châtel, France, she achieved impressive results, placing sixth in downhill and eighth in super-G. Lorenzi died at Bolzano Hospital, where she had been admitted following the severe injuries sustained during her training session on the Gravald G1 slope.
