Webuild, agreement with Bologna to renovate Dall’Ara stadium

BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS) – Bologna FC 1909 and Webuild have signed a partnership agreement with exclusive rights until Dec. 31, 2027, to carry out the further technical feasibility studies and renovation and redevelopment in EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) mode of the Dall’Ara stadium. The initiative, a Webuild note explains, is part of a larger PPP (Public Private Partnership) project developed by the club with the Municipality of Bologna. With the new Dall’Ara Stadium, the city is bidding to be selected among those that will host the European Football Championships in 2032.Building on Webuild Group’s worldwide expertise in the stadium sector, the project, which involves a total investment estimated at 200 million euros, aims to renovate and enhance the areas of the stadium, which was inaugurated in 1927, while maintaining its public ownership. The Dall’Ara will thus be transformed into a 7-day-a-week active facility with a high level of services in all areas, in line with the best practices widespread in the international arena.A key element of the redevelopment will be the stadium’s roof, which will be shell-shaped and capable of allowing the passage of light and air. The metal structures added during the Italia ’90 World Cup will also be eliminated, safeguarding the original city walls. The facility will be built according to UEFA category 4 standards and will have a capacity of more than 30 thousand seats with optimal visibility, with all the stands very close to the field at about 7 meters from the playing line.Part of the project is also the redevelopment of the area north of Via Andrea Costa, known by the name “Antistadio,” to which will be added the construction of the “Temporary Stadium” in an area east of Bologna (F.I.C.O.), to host the club’s home matches during the construction. The design was carried out and supervised by the GAU ARENA Studio of architect Gino Zavanella from Rome. The Webuild Group has already built 9 major stadiums in the world. These include the Meazza in Milan, a temple of Italian soccer built in 1926 and also known as the San Siro Stadium, which was renovated on the eve of the Italia ’90 World Cup by a pool of companies led by Lodigiani, later merged into the Group. The intervention at the time on Meazza was radical, with the construction of the third tier of bleachers, supported by the 11 cylindrical concrete towers that are now the hallmark of the stadium worldwide. For the same World Cup, the Group also refurbished the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, with substantial renovations and roofing. For the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it then built the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar, an innovative and sustainable structure in the shape of the traditional Qatari tent, a symbol of welcome and hospitality. Over the years, it has also built the L’Aquila Rugby Stadium in Italy, the “Lia Manoliu” National Stadium in Bucharest, Romania, as well as sports complexes in Chiang Mai and south of Songkla in Thailand, the Lagos National Stadium in Nigeria, and the Omnisport Omar Bongo Stadium in Gabon.- photo Webuild press office -(ITALPRESS).
