SAN DONATO MILANESE (MILAN) (ITALPRESS) – Snam announces that, at the end of the injection campaign ended last October 31, the filling level of Italian storage reached a percentage of 98.5%, for a total of 18.7 billion cubic meters, between modulation storage (13,9 billion cubic meters, which surpasses the record level already recorded last year of about 13.6 billion cubic meters) and strategic storage (4.8 billion cubic meters), compared with an average storage fill level in Europe of about 95 percent. This figure takes into account both Stogit’s (a company wholly owned by Snam) storage, which reached a total of 17.4 billion cubic meters, including modulation storage (12.7 billion cubic meters) and strategic storage (4.7 billion cubic meters), and those of other operators. “The conclusion of the injection campaign allows us to look forward to the winter season with confidence, despite a scenario of constant volatility and uncertainty that characterizes global markets,” commented Snam CEO Stefano Venier. “Also this year we have achieved this result thanks to a systemic action that has seen the active involvement of both the different components of the Government and Arera, as well as the main operators, in addition to Snam.” This amount makes it possible to far exceed the target of 90 percent required by European and national regulations, considering that storage will be able to cope with about 25 to 30 percent of daily demand during the coldest months of the year. This result was also possible thanks to the actions taken by Snam last thermal year to maintain gas in the storages during the winter period, such as the offer of counterflow services, which allowed Snam’s storages to be able to start the summer reconstitution campaign with an initial filling level in April 2024 of about 60% of capacity. During the next delivery campaign, Snam’s commitment to offering services to support market operators to keep gas in storage during the peak winter consumption period, such as counterflow and residual storage services, will continue.(ITALPRESS).
