Remember when Meloni went to America recently and received a major award from the Atlantic Council, handed to her directly by Elon Musk? Perhaps we were among the few to report objectively on the episode, while in Italy, some even speculated that the world’s richest man and our prime minister had a romantic relationship.
Alongside a few other newspapers, we mentioned briefly that the two had discussed not some post-fascist technological world domination, but rather billion-dollar investments in Italy. Now that Trump is president once again, we can say that Musk saw the bigger picture in supporting him, and Meloni did the same by aligning with Musk. Not only will this serve as a political bridge to the White House, but we’ve also learned that Silicon Valley—representing the new, powerful ICT (Information and Communication Technology) industry rather than traditional heavy industry—is ready to invest billions of dollars in Italy.
Moreover, Tesla, Elon Musk’s brainchild, is poised to partially replace Stellantis in the Italian market, and let’s not forget that Tesla is considered the world’s best electric car. This will lead to greater prosperity and more jobs—hardly a trivial prize. Meloni has already spoken to Trump and Musk, who may play a significant role in the tycoon’s new political team.
Europe watches with suspicion: could Meloni be forging a bilateral agreement with the United States on her own? The world is changing, and this is just the beginning…
