Five series not to be missed in November 2024

The day of the jackal – Su Peacock il 14 novembre.

There’s Eddie Redmayne as the star of this new series based on writer Frederick Forsyth’s political thriller (one of the world’s most famous spy books), which in 1973 spawned an equally famous (and award-winning) film directed by Fred Zinnemann.

The Jackal, a lone, elusive and ruthless assassin (Redmayne) makes his living killing for hire. But while at work on a new assignment he is confronted by a tenacious officer from MI6, British intelligence, (Lashana Lynch) who will engage in a relentless manhunt around Europe to successfully capture him.

Also in the cast is Úrsula Corberó (the unforgettable Tokio from The House of Paper).Produced by Carnival Films for Universal International Studios, the series in Italy airs on Sky starting Nov. 7.

Dune: Prophecy – Su HBO il 17 novembre.

It is the serial prequel to Dune, riding on the cinematic success of Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya (the third installment, Messiah, is scheduled for theatrical release in December 2025).

Running six episodes, it is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune written by Brian Herbert, the son of the creator of the original Dune novel cycle, Frank Herbert, following his father’s directions.

Set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides (who is played by Chalamet in the film), it follows two sisters of the House of Harkonnen (the rivals of the Atredis) as they fight the forces that threaten the future of humanity and found the all-female sect that would become known as Bene Gesserit.

The two leads are Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, leader of the Sisterhood, and Olivia Williams (her sister Tula), other performers include Jodhi May (Empress Nataly), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, an independent princess heir to the Golden Lion Throne, and Shalom Brune-Franklin as a woman who serves the royal family but belongs to the lineage of the inhabitants:natives of Dune, the Fremen. Also in the cast are Travis Fimmel and Mark Strong.

The series, Hbo Original co-produced with Legendary Television, goes inda in Italy on Sky starting Nov. 18.

Adorazione – Su Netflix (Italia) il 20 novembre.

The new Italian series based on the novel by Alice Urciolo, directed by Stefano Mordini and produced by Picomedia.

Summer has just begun on the Agro Pontino coast when the disappearance of 16-year-old Elena casts a shadow over the small community. Given her rebellious nature, both the police and her friends think it is yet another attempt to escape from a stifling province–but they are wrong.

A coming-of-age with a strong mystery component that intertwines feelings and generations, in a succession of discoveries, surprising revelations and jealously guarded secrets, eventually destroying the few certainties of a provincial life always on the edge between aspirations and broken dreams.

The choral cast includes Alice Lupparelli, as Elena, Noemi Megagnini, Beatrice Puccilli, Penelope Raggi, Luigi Bruno, Tommaso Donadoni, Giulio Brizzi, Federico Russo, Alessia Cosmo, Federica Bonocore, Claudia Potenza, Barbara Chichiarelli, Max Mazzotta, Ilenia Pastorelli, and Mario Sgueglia.

The Agency – Su Paramount+ il 29 novembre.

It is an adaptation of the cult French spy serial The Bureau (Le Bureau des Légendes), which starred Mathieu Kassovitz in the original.

It follows an undercover CIA agent, here played by Michael Fassbender, who is called back to London to abandon his secret identity and begin an important new mission. His job, however, becomes complicated when the woman he loved during his undercover life suddenly reappears.

In 10 episodes, adapted by playwright Jez Butterworth and his brother John-Henry Butterworth, it has a stellar cast consisting of Richard Gere, Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterston, Hugh Bonneville and John Magaro.

The producers include George Clooney.

Senna – Su Netflix il 29 novembre.

A miniseries about one of the world’s greatest motor racing icons, three-time Formula 1 world champion driver Ayrton Senna, who died in Italy after an accident at the Imola circuit during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Brazilian actor Gabriel Leone plays him, and the series will show us his triumphs, disappointments, joys, and sorrows from the beginning of his racing career to the tragic accident at Imola.

The biopic also chronicles important figures in the driver’s life, including Alain Prost (Matt Mella), Galvão Bueno (Gabriel Louchard) and Xuxa (Pâmela Tomé). Also Alice Wegmann (Lilian, Ayrton’s first wife), Camila Márdila (Vivianne Senna, his sister), Christian Malheiros (Maurinho, his friend), Hugo Bonemer (Nelson Piquet), Julia Foti (Adriane Galisteu), Kazuhiro Muroyama (Soichiro Honda), Marco Ricca (Milton, his father), Nicolas Cruz (Leonardo, his brother), Rodrigo Veloso (Flávio, his brother-in-law), Susana Ribeiro (Zaza, his mother).

Instead, Kaya Scodelario plays a fictional journalist.
