MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Conte’s Napoli emerged as Serie A leaders at the November national team break. In the post-match of the 12th day, the partenopei stopped Inter at 1-1 away from home, snatching a precious point. At San Siro the goals bear the signature of McTominay and Calhanoglu: the latter also missed the penalty of the possible victory in the second half (hitting the post). In the final thrill for the Nerazzurri fans, with Simeone very close to scoring. A tenacious Napoli thus held its own against the Italian champions, protagonists, however, of a test full of technical errors. The tactical plan of the match is clear from the first minutes. Inter took over the reins of the game, while Napoli defended with order and tried to strike on the counterattack. The first big chance of the evening comes from the Nerazzurri themselves, at 17′, with Pavard fired into the net: Buongiorno, however, makes a providential closure on the French national. A few minutes later, with cynicism, it is Napoli who unlock the game from the development of a corner, beaten by Kvaratskhelia. At 23′ McTominay collected Rrahmani’s aerial bank and from two steps slipped Sommer through, making it 1-0. Inter did not lose heart and poured into the opponent’s midfield, although they struggled to find gaps in the Parthenopean rearguard. Inzaghi’s team also seemed to lack the usual technical cleanliness.
On several occasions the Campani restarted with dangerousness, taking advantage of the home team’s own technical errors. To take the chestnuts out of the fire at home Inter is Calhanoglu who, with a powerful ball from twenty-five meters, chills Meret and stamps 1-1 at the end of the first half. In the opening of the second half a more buoyant Inter took the field and, on several occasions, came close to the overtaking goal. First Lautaro miscontrols in front of Meret, then at 52′ Dimarco hits the outside post from the edge. The episode that could change the match comes at 72′, when Mariani judges as a penalty the contact between Anguissa and Dumfries. At the San Siro, however, a more unique than rare event happens: Calhanoglu sends the ball onto the post, thus interrupting his record streak. In the final, the last ring of the match is Simeone’s shot at 94′, high by a whisker over the crossbar. A bitter result for the Nerazzurri, who nonetheless grew in the second half. Napoli, on the other hand, enjoys the summit with a one-point lead over Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter itself. Championship as uncertain as ever.
