MILAN (ITALPRESS) – In a matter of minutes, you can book a padel court or buy tickets to a Champions League or International Tennis match; but taking the same amount of time, you can get a life-saving prostate cancer screening. Attracting attention with sports, Europa Uomo Italia’s new campaign, on the occasion of International Men’s Health Month, launches a national campaign to raise awareness of the importance of prevention. The association’s initiative, which promotes precisely the right to prevention and treatment of prostate cancer, is carried out with the unconditional support of Ipsen, a biopharmaceutical company committed to the front lines of oncology, as well as neuroscience and rare diseases.Prostate cancer, often characterized by slow development and signs that can remain silent for years, needs widespread awareness of the importance of prevention. According to data from the World Health Organization, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men globally, with more than 1.5 million new diagnoses recorded each year, and it is a leading cause of male mortality, with more than 375,000 deaths estimated annually worldwide. In our country, prostate cancer accounts for 19.8 percent of all male cancers, and forecasts for the next two decades indicate an increase in annual incidence of +1 percent.”Fortunately, alongside a steady growth in cases,” emphasized Bernardo Rocco, Professor of Urology at the University of Milan, Director of the Urology Unit at Policlinico Gemelli in Rome and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of Europa Uomo, “the methods of diagnosis and treatment of this tumor have also made significant progress, so much so that more than 90 percent of patients can be considered cured five years after diagnosis. Provided, however, that the disease is intercepted and then treated in its early stages. “With this campaign we wanted to emphasize two fundamental concepts,” said Europa Uomo President Claudio Talmelli. The first is that we must never forget to put at the first place, in the list of our commitments, the protection of our health; the second is that to check the prostate today we can start with a simple blood test and then eventually move on to a clinical examination, simple operations that take only a few minutes. “An important campaign in the year in which we celebrate 20 years since the founding of Europa Uomo,” Talmelli continued. – Over these two decades we have worked tirelessly to promote prevention and appropriate treatment approaches for prostate cancer, knowing that early detection can make a difference. Our mission is to remind every man of the importance of regular checkups and to ensure that all Italian citizens have access to quality diagnosis and treatment so that they can live healthier and longer lives. “Europa Uomo Italia has been working for years to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and to support those living with prostate cancer. This year’s campaign, which from early November will appear on digital and out-of-home channels, particularly in the Milan subways, also includes a series of information and engagement activities to encourage greater attention to men’s health, reminding men of the importance of regular checkups and a healthy lifestyle as the first step to prevention.”Ipsen is particularly proud to stand alongside Europa Uomo Italia and support the “Easier than you think” campaign because we believe it is essential to raise awareness, and we firmly believe in the importance of prevention, an approach that can really change the story of many cancers,” says Patrizia Olivari, president and CEO of Ipsen Italia. “Today, thanks to the continuous advances in scientific research on the mechanisms of evolution and spread of cancer cells, we know that early detection of prostate cancer can make a difference and improve the prospects of treatment and quality of life for patients. That’s why, as Ipsen, we strive every day with our heads, challenging the status quo; with our hearts, because we put all our passion into it; and with our hands because it’s a team effort, so that more and more people take care of themselves.”
