ROME (ITALPRESS) – The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, has approved the appointment of Army General Salvatore Luongo as the new commanding general of the Carabinieri Corps. He succeeds General Teo Luzi, whose post will end Nov. 15. General Luongo, currently deputy commanding general of the Arma and commander of the Podgora interregional, will officially take office Nov. 15. His career in the Carabinieri Corps is marked by extensive experience, with positions of responsibility and command in territorial departments and, most recently, also at the head of the Defense Ministry’s Legislative Office. Prominent among the prominent positions he has held are strategic roles in the fight against organized crime and international cooperation against terrorism. Recognized for his focus on innovation, General Luongo has helped promote operational synergies that aim to make departments more efficient, focusing on the integration of advanced technologies for urban security and territorial control.
