The Newspaper of Italy celebrates 123 years

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Il Giornale d’Italia was founded in 1901 by Sidney Sonnino and Antonio Salandra, under the editorship of Alberto Bergamini. Its first editor clearly expressed the line to be followed in the first issue, which came out on Nov. 16, 1901: “We will work for the conciliation of souls, to revive the feelings of solidarity among all orders of citizens, to raise the moral and economic conditions of the most deprived classes, on which the future of Italy depends for so much. “Il Giornale d’Italia celebrates its 123rd anniversary on Monday, Nov. 18, at its new offices in Milan’s Palazzo Nerino, Via San Maurilio 13, retracing some of the most significant and important stages in the history of our country. Luca Greco, editor-in-chief of Il Giornale d’Italia said, “We celebrate an extraordinary anniversary and an important milestone that propels us into the future: Il Giornale d’Italia blows out 123 candles and continues in its mission to protect the basic values of our society. In 123 years the world has changed radically, but what has never eroded with the passage of time is the need to seek the truth and tell the facts. Our way of doing journalism is one of passion, rigor and tenacity. We look to the future with optimism in an increasingly uncertain scenario with continuous challenges, which we will always face with our feet on the ground. Thanks to all readers to partners and team and best wishes to Il Giornale d’Italia, we will continue pursuing the principles of Freedom, first and foremost and above all,” he concluded.(ITALPRESS).-Photo: source Il Giornale d’Italia-
