TURIN (ITALPRESS) – Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi was unanimously elected president of Anci at a national assembly meeting in Turin.
“The priorities are to put the needs of municipalities at the center of Italian politics, to strengthen the autonomy of municipalities and give them powers that are up to the challenges that contemporary life puts before us, and to address what are key aspects from housing policy and urban security, to environmental issues that today strongly impact municipalities, to what are the needs of citizens such as better transportation, better social and educational services,” Manfredi explained after his election. These are very big challenges that impact the daily needs of people, and I think, on behalf of the whole association, that only through a new protagonism of the municipalities can we really revitalize the country and give an answer to the needs of our citizens,” he added.
“I say to the premier that she must see in the mayors loyal, concrete interlocutors who want to be privileged interlocutors of the government, and we will arrive with serious and unified proposals, so we expect, and I am very confident that this will happen, a strong direct interlocution with the premier and the government,” Manfredi stressed. “We will quickly build an agenda of the municipalities with a series of concrete proposals that we will submit to the premier and I am convinced that we will be able to find a way to implement them.
