3-point debut for Giampaolo, Lecce wins in Venice

VENICE (ITALPRESS) – A crucial win for Lecce, which in Marco Giampaolo’s opener knocked out EusebioDi Francesco’s Venezia away from home with a final result of 1-0. The decisive goal – the first away from home of the Pugliesi’s season – was Dorgu’s, which came after more than half the match was dominated by the orange and green. In fact, the first good chance was created by Venezia, thanks to the quality of Oristanio, who from an advanced throw-in takes Baschirotto by surprise and comes in front of Falcone, sending the ball of the possible 1-0 just wide. Careful match by the two teams, with Venezia bringing high pressure on Giampaolo’s men, preventing a clean construction of the opponent’s maneuver. Lecce offensively sterile and lagunari who made up for it dangerously, on the spot kicked by Nicolussi Caviglia and sent over the crossbar by Idzes’ header. First half of the game ending with a much more proactive and better-positioned Venezia, compared to a Lecce lacking ideas. At 52′ there is a valuable exchange between Busio and Pohjanpalo, with the Finnish center forward who with a dig puts U.S. alone in front of an attentive Falcone, who clears. Goalkeeper of the Salentini who a few minutes later still has to turn off another chance for Venezia, this time on the insertion and shot of Duncan. Another chance for Di Francesco’s eleven, however, which at 70′ will unexpectedly go into a disadvantage: credit to Gallo’s restart, who from the left out-side sets off a left-footed cross that is collected and pushed into the net by the very punctual Dorgu. Heavy goal that put Lecce ahead, in its first real flash of the night. Veneti psychologically marked by the Lecce goal, as well as tempted by the all-out final forcing that did not produce the hoped-for fruits, however, condemning Venezia to a defeat that reaffirms even more their last place in the standings. Three crucial points, however, for Lecce, which leaps to 15th place, putting it behind Cagliari, Genoa and Como.- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
