South Tyrol, greener public buildings with ENGIE and Dolomiti Energia

BOLZANO (ITALPRESS) – Energy efficiency in provincial buildings to reduce consumption and limit environmental impact. With these goals in mind, the provincial administration of Bolzano has entrusted ENGIE, a leading operator in the energy sector, in ATI with Dolomiti Energia Solutions, a Trentino-based multiservice company that operates throughout Italy, with the management and energy upgrading of 25 public buildings. Thanks to a private investment of nearly 57 million euros, innovative interventions will be carried out, aimed at significantly reducing energy needs by combining the use of energy from renewable sources with the optimization of thermal and electrical performance.More than 20 thousand LED lamps will be installed that will use adaptive Human Centric Lighting technology, a solution that allows the most correct lighting at any time of day, modulating temperature and color, depending on the well-being of the person and the activities he or she performs.State-of-the-art heat pumps and condensing boilers will be installed in the buildings to produce thermal energy and photovoltaic systems will be installed on the roofs of 14 buildings for a total capacity of 768 kW.Thanks to these solutions, 12 public buildings, including offices, high schools and a swimming pool, will be transformed into nZEB (Nearly Zero-Energy Building), or very high-performance, with electricity exclusively from renewable sources and an overall energy consumption of almost zero: only 14 percent of the current one.Efficiency work will begin in 2025 and will last 2 years. The annual energy savings for the Province of Bolzano will be 38% with a total cut of 36,000 tons of CO2 in the atmosphere, corresponding to the environmental benefits of planting 40,000 trees. For the public administration, this transformation of public buildings will not only help improve the environment and well-being in their facilities, but will also mark a significant step toward sustainable development of the urban center.”The goals of the ‘South Tyrol Climate Plan 2040,’ aimed at reducing CO2 emissions, increasing energy production from renewable sources and reducing energy consumption, are ambitious,” says President Arno Kompatscher. “The ‘Building Renovation Plus’ project will contribute to the achievement of these goals through concrete interventions on the provincial housing stock; a tangible sign of the Province’s commitment to promoting sustainability.”Christian Bianchi, provincial councillor for Heritage Enhancement adds “with Building Renovation Plus we want to turn the Province of Bolzano into a virtuous example of innovation in property management, a model that can be replicated not only locally, but also on a national scale. We believe that this project can pave the way for new sustainability and efficiency practices, consolidating our role as pioneers in this sector. “Collaboration and synergy between public bodies and private operators is fundamental when working with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the territory,” says Marco Massaria, Northern Area Director of ENGIE Italy. ENGIE’s constant commitment is to be a reliable and solid partner for Public Administrations in the implementation of important projects for the redevelopment and enhancement of common heritage, in line with the decarbonization paths envisaged by European and national energy plans.””We are proud to be able to accompany this important energy efficiency intervention in public buildings in the province of Bolzano, a project that is part of our group’s industrial strategy to accompany public administrations on their path to energy transition and sustainability,” commented Francesco Righi, CEO of Dolomiti Energia Solutions. In fact, the energy solutions that we will adopt have not only an economic and environmental value but also a high social value in view of the importance that schools and offices represent for local communities. “To date, there are more than 1,000 public administrations and companies that have turned to ENGIE for the implementation of energy efficiency projects, accumulated by the ambition to advance in the direction of energy transition and help spread a new environmental awareness.
