Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, city car reference electric transition

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – A major industrial challenge for the Renault Group: to develop in just three years, as opposed to the four usually required, a production model capable of retaining all the charm and dream of the showcar. The “future history” is what Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is about to write, a car unlike any other, a true concentrate of electric and digital technology, destined to become the city-car of reference for the electric transition in Europe, making electric vehicles accessible to all, a protagonist of the energy ecosystem, with an entry price of around 25,000 euros. The first element that contributes to the extraordinary character of Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is, of course, the mind-boggling design, which wins over those who find in it the iconic features of the original model they have known, but also younger people, attracted by its modernity and its customization elements. Apart from the design, it would have been pointless to “remake” the Renault 5 without building on the legacy of the original model, a pop and popular icon that had been able to respond to the challenges of its times. Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is designed to be efficient, especially in use, pleasant and easy to drive in everyday life. It offers unprecedented driving, on-board living and electric driving experiences, offeringnew technologies for the segment, such as the OpenR Link system with integrated Google, Reno avatar, V2L and Plug & Charge. Not to mention driver and passenger comfort and safety. Its strengths derive, in particular, from Ampere’s new AmpR Small platform, dedicated to B-segment electric vehicles, which allows the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric to also express its “pop” side in road behavior, procuring thrilling sensations that are completely unprecedented for a “small” electric car. All “made in France,” of course. It would also have been pointless to “remake” the Renault 5 without producing it in France or designing it according to more sustainable criteria. Renault made a challenging decision to produce Renault 5 E-Tech Electric locally, in the ElectriCity industrial center – in northern France – and with a compact ecosystem of suppliers based within a 300-km radius. All vehicles, but also the batteries, are therefore assembled at the Douai plant-which was one of the production sites of the original Renault 5-with the engine (electric motor, gearbox, power electronics) made in Clèon and some modules to be produced in the Douai Gigafactory (in partnership with AESC) from summer 2025. Thanks to the expertise of The Future is NEUTRAL, a subsidiary of the Renault Group specializing in the circular economy, Renault 5 E-Tech Electric will achieve a recyclability rate of at least 88.6 percent and will be composed of 19.4 percent recycled materials (ISO14021 standard) and 26.4 percent materials from the circular economy. Record rates for the category. Like its “ancestor,” Renault 5 E-Tech Electric has, therefore, all the credentials to make its mark. It is a choice that offers an authoritative and exciting response to the technological, social and environmental challenges of today’s mobility.
