Schittulli “Lilt believes in science, misunderstands our good intentions”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Following the recent criticism referring to the participation of Mr. Rino Liuzzi, at the Dec. 5 press conference, I feel a clarification is in order. First of all, the Minister of Health was unaware of the invited guests and granted exclusively hospitality to LILT. I want, to reassure everyone: Mr. Liuzzi was not invited as an expert to talk about cancer, nor did he express opinions in the field of oncology there. Also, no connections were made between astrology and cancer. For more than 100 years, we have been committed to spreading the message of prevention as the most effective weapon in the fight against cancer.” This was stated in a note by Francesco Schittulli, president of LILT (Lega Italiana per la Lotta contro i Tumori). “LILT firmly believes in science. Oncological research is one of the fundamental pillars of our work,” he continues. “It was in no way our intention to promote or legitimize anti-scientific approaches, nor to disrespect the institutional headquarters that hosted us or the thousands of supporters who accompany us on our journey. We deeply regret if this episode might have given a different impression. LILT will continue to work with seriousness and responsibility, supported by its valuable network of volunteers, to confirm its role as a reference in cancer prevention in Italy.”
