ROME (ITALPRESS) – The bomber who drove an SUV through a crowd of people at the Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, last night is under interrogation after his arrest. The provisional toll at the moment is five dead and 205 injured, 40 of them seriously.
The man was reportedly a lone wolf, born in 1974 in Saudi Arabia. According to police findings, the suspect wanted to carry out a massacre. In fact, according to a reconstruction, he zigzagged for 400 meters to hit everyone. He aimed, in particular, to attack the children’s area of the park.
“We will act against those who want to sow hatred,” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said while visiting the site of the attack. Scholz called on the country to “stand united.”
“I have received and felt a lot of solidarity from so many countries around the world. It is comforting to hear that in the face of this terrible catastrophe we Germans are not alone,” he added.
