ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I believe that educating in sports is an extremely ambitious goal before which we cannot afford to be timid. Its difficulties are compensated by the results that are achieved, today we have the recognition of our constitution with the last paragraph of Article 33 that reminds us how it itself recognizes the educational and social value of promoting and psychophysical well-being of sporting activity in all its forms. We who are a sports promotion organization have a duty to pursue these goals and we do so on a daily basis through the network of competence.” This was said by Juri Morico, president of Opes, a sports promotion body and third sector recognized by CONI and CIP, during an interview at the Rome headquarters of Italpress. “We are facilitated by the relationship that takes place between the coaches, who are not just coaches to the movement, but are real educators, and the children,” continued the Opes number one who was re-elected last Dec. 1. “Educating in sports means attributing a very important mission not as an end in itself, but as useful to achieve much more important goals. And it cannot fail to interact with the other educational agencies that are the school, family, church, oratory and other sports bodies.” A process that finds in its path both solidarity and obstacles: “The first we find from all those who recognize our subsidiary role, we are a third sector operating in social and sports. The obstacles we find are those of thinking that this world is volunteering that corresponds to an improvised approach in which there is no acquisition of competence and seriousness in the pursuit of objectives. Today, however, we are facing a more mature market with the public administration ready to take responsibility for helping those who are called upon to work on the front lines.” An ambitious future with big appointments lies ahead for Opes: “In full continuity with our path I remember that on July 1, 2025 Opes will turn forty-five years old,” Morico added. “There is a great activity to relaunch training, the skills borne by the operators (technicians, managers and sports animators) are fundamental. And not forgetting our willingness to put our face on it with ambitious plans. We want to draft our strategic sustainability plan 2026-2028 in which Opes will commit to achieving certain goals and to do so with a well-defined path,” he concluded.- photo Italpress – (ITALPRESS)
