ROME (ITALPRESS) – A 2024 of successes and important achievements for the Toyota Group in Italy. In a car market that is almost stable compared to last year, the Toyota Group confirms leading positions thanks to the contribution of successful models such as Aygo X, Yaris Cross, Corolla Cross, the new Toyota C-HR and the new Lexus LBX. The Toyota and Lexus Brands together achieved more than 135,000 registrations, reaching a market share of 7.7 percent. In detail, Toyota is the leading importer in the total market and in Passenger Cars thanks to more than 123,000 registrations consolidating a record share of 7.9 percent and in the private channel reaches a share of 9.7 percent. Results achieved thanks to the decisive contribution of all models in the broad Toyota range and especially thanks to the performance of the TNGA-B platform models with over 10% share in their respective segments – Aygo X, Yaris and Yaris Cross. In further confirmation, Toyota ranks second in the C SUV segment thanks to Corolla Cross and Toyota C-HR. In particular highlight, the new Toyota C-HR, also available from 2024 in Plug-in Hybrid engine, with more than 16,000 registrations enters the TOP3 of the C-SUV segment steadily. And in 2025 it will still be in the spotlight thanks to the efficiency and advantages of Toyota’s Plug-in Hybrid engine with 5th generation hybrid system and almost 100km electric range in urban cycle. In Full Hybrid power, Toyota leads the market with more than 50 percent share thanks to successful models such as Yaris, Yaris Cross and the new Toyota C-HR, which rank in the top three places relatively to this power source. In a premium market marked by growth compared to 2023, the Lexus brand closes the year with about 6,100 registrations (+62% vs. 2023), the best result ever in Italy, equal to a market share of 2.1% (+0.8% vs. 2023). With a 100 percent electrified range and a mix of more than 16 percent Plug-in Hybrid powertrains, above the premium market average, Lexus remains particularly popular with private customers, the channel into which more than 55 percent of registrations flow. The new Lexus LBX, a Full Hybrid crossover that introduces the brand to the premium B SUV segment, has received very positive feedback from the market, contributing significantly to the historical record for Lexus, with more than 2,700 registrations in 2024, and bringing new customers to the Brand thanks to 70% of “conquest” sales i.e., to buyers who were not already Lexus customers. The Lexus NX also made a key contribution to Lexus’ annual results, with about 2,100 cars registered and an excellent performance of the Plug-in Hybrid powertrain-the perfect synthesis of efficiency, driving pleasure, and sustainability-which was chosen by about 40 percent of customers (well above the average market mix), best representing Lexus’ commitment to the SUV market and the brand’s pioneering, multi-technology approach. Toyota was also particularly outstanding in commercial vehicles with the Toyota Professional brand closing out a very successful 2024, with over 6,700 registrations and a record 3.6 percent share in light commercial. The biggest contribution came from the PROACE family, which recorded a 25 percent volume growth over last year. “2024 was a year of great successes that confirmed the right direction of Toyota’s strategy, based on a multi-technology offering and electrified products with features that perfectly meet what the market demands today. The goal is to enable everyone to move easily, sustainably and safely, leaving no one behind. Results also achieved thanks to the important product innovations of Toyota, Lexus and Toyota Professional, innovative financing, rental, insurance and connectivity solutions offered by the Group companies: Toyota Financial Service, Kinto and TIS And-E. These solutions have been highly appreciated by customers for years, especially the programs of the WeHybrid® world that incentivize to make the best use of Full Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid technology,” says Alberto Santilli, CEO of Toyota Motor Italia. “Looking ahead to 2025, we have the ambition to consolidate our growth and our multi-technological offer, from Full Hybrid to Plug-in Hybrid, now ripe to conquer more market share, passing also through Full Electric to Hydrogen. This will be possible, as always, thanks to the work on the territory of the Toyota and Lexus Network Partners and the group approach, which allows us to offer complete solutions around our products, consolidating the trust of our customers and winning new ones,” Santilli concludes.
