MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Twenty-four hours after Napoli’s success, Inter responded by beating Empoli 3-1, thus igniting the duel for the Scudetto. At the San Siro, the goals all come in the second half and bear the signatures of Lautaro, Dumfries and Thuram: “useless,” however, the former Esposito’s goal for the Tuscan club. Inter did not shine until the goal of the lead, only to turn on and bend the Azzurri lineup, mothballed by absences. In the first half, the game was practically only played in Empoli’s midfield, but Inter did not manage to return to the locker room with a lead. Due in part to an often predictable giropalla, the Nerazzurri struggled to break through the wall erected by the Tuscan defense. Despite the few chances on goal, Lautaro was the most active of his team and came close to scoring on two occasions. On 14′, the Inter captain finished on a backhand and forced Vasquez into a miracle. Later, again the Toro also hits a woodwork at 26′, failing to punish Ismajli’s defensive misreading. The second half started again along the same lines as the first and Inter continued to play giving little rhythm to their maneuver. To unlock, however, a match that was in danger of becoming complicated, Lautaro did it with a masterful play. After ten minutes of the second half, in fact, the Argentine charged the team on his own shoulders and stamped the 1-0, thanks to a stupendous turn shot from the distance. At’69’ Thuram took the field, replacing Taremi, author of yet another impalpable performance. On 80′ from a corner kick, the Nerazzurri doubled the score with Dumfries, author of an imperious breakaway that left Vasquez no chance. Inter were in management and the game seemed to be closed: in the final, however, the newly arrived Esposito punished the blackout of the Inter defense and made it 2-1. Empoli did not even have time to dream of a comeback that immediately came the 3-1 goal, scored by Thuram on a counterattack. The hosts thus conquered a heavy success that allowed them to move back to within three points of Napoli in the lead. On the other hand, Empoli’s crisis continues, capable of winning only one point in their last six outings.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
