ROME (ITALPRESS) – Cordiano Dagnoni was re-elected president of the Italian Cycling Federation with 59.74 percent of the votes cast at the assembly held at the Hilton Rome Airport hotel in Fiumicino, Italy, which was attended by 99.1 percent of those eligible (231 delegates out of 233). He beat the competition of Silvio Martinello (39.83 percent) on the ballot. “I am excited, I thank everyone, I am happy because this election campaign, which to many seemed very heated, I found it much fairer than four years ago – the re-elected president’s first words – I thank Silvio Martinello and Daniela Isetti (the other two presidential candidates, ed.), to both of them I said that the federation is the home of cycling, so if they want to make a contribution there are no grudges nor tensions, they will be welcome. I hope to have a more peaceful four-year term than the previous one.” The runoff had become necessary after Dagnoni stopped at 47.83 percent on the first ballot, followed by Martinello with 33.48 percent and Isetti with 18.7 percent.- photo Italpress – (ITALPRESS)
