BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) (ITALPRESS) – “We want to dominate the market on all those vehicles ranging from two and a half meters to four: the stand in Brussels is a demonstration of what Fiat is in Europe.” This was the comment of Gaetano Thorel, senior vice-president in Stellantis and responsible for the Fiat and Abarth brands for Europe, in an interview on the sidelines of the Auto Show, being held in Brussels from January 10 to 19. “On our stand you can find from the Topolino, to the electric 500 in Armani version to the Pandina, which remains our undisputed icon in Italy with 100 thousand models a year,” Thorel added. “Today also sees the debut of the Grande Panda, in both electric and hybrid versions. This is the representation of what Fiat is in Europe and inside Stellantis.” “Electric is a correct technology, but it is clear that it takes time. The end point is already marked, but the real discussion is how to get there without creating too many problems for the automotive industry in Europe,” he adds in response to a question about electric. “The fact of driving a 0-emission car is a beautiful thing. I myself have been driving an electric 500 for three years and I would never go back,” Thorel stressed, adding, “Italy still has some way to go in this respect. I think barriers need to be overcome and above all that people should actually drive electric cars.”
